Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy - I am so excited to meet your newborn baby girl(s) or boy(s)! I offer 2 type of packages which both include all the best photos taken from the day so there are no hidden fees. You will receive all high resolution images on a USB drive and a private online gallery for you to share with your nearest and dearest. I only take newborn photos on location (usually your home) as I personally believe you are all more relaxed in a known environment.
I am here to capture those squishy little faces - I know how quickly they grow and change in the first few weeks. When it comes to booking, we set a date after your due date and before the little ones reach their 14th day. This is just a recommended target, so if you decide on a photography session later than 14 days I am more than happy to work something out. I ask for a £50 deposit to secure your booking.
Sessions can take up to 3 hours depending on the little one's mood, which can change very dramatically....patience is essential! I will not attempt any poses that are not safe, making sure above all that your baby is as comfortable as can be and always treated as if they were my own.
If you want nice sleepy photos - like in the Studio Lighting package, try to play games before I arrive, keeping them awake (if possible) and also try to plan a feed as I arrive while I set up the equipment - the more drowsy they are, the more time I will have to take photos, so the more choice you will have.
If your baby has dry skin, make sure to oil them the night before and try not to apply any further creams on the day to prevent drying their skin out. I also recommend avoiding bathing them on the morning of your shoot.
As the session can take some time we may need some emergency wipes/nappies near by in case of some unavoidable explosions. I bring my own blankets and protective disposable mats as it's a regular occurrence.
It can be a huge help letting me know in advance how you settle your baby - dummies, white noise etc. I touch the baby's cheek while posing them which triggers the feeding reflex so dummies can be very useful. Some babies (like my son) would rather have the real thing than the dummy, but I can be very patient and will persevere to get the shots we want.
It really depends on what kind of photos you would like. If you would like posed sleepy images, wrapped up snug-as-a-bug on a big soft pillow then the Studio package is the one for you. You'll receive around 20-40 images and we will create some magical pieces of art which will look great on the wall.
If however, you would like to capture the journey of those unique first few weeks of life with a newborn then the Natural Shoot package is for you. We will spend some time creating poses around your house or even in your garden, capturing the reality of having your life turned upside down by this small noisy bundle but also the joy and wonder they bring to the world. Not only will I take photos of your newborn, but I'll also fit in some time with mum and dad! Don't let this put you off, I know myself how tiring those first few days are, but I'm there to document this life-changing journey you are going through and the love between you and your baby.
